Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how First Aid Check (“First Aid Check”, “we”, “us” or “our”), which operates the website firstaidcheck.co.nz, collects, uses, stores, discloses and protects your personal information. We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles (IPPs).

By using firstaidcheck.co.nz (the “Service”), you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information we collect

a. Workplace assessment information

When you complete a first aid assessment, we collect the answers you provide about your workplace — for example your type of work, number of staff, sites, shift patterns, hazards, response times and location. The free assessment does not require you to create an account or provide your name or email.

b. Account & purchase information

If you purchase an optional Workplace Action Plan, we collect the details you enter at checkout: your full name, business or organisation name, email address and town or city. You may also enter first aid record details (such as first aider names, training dates, kit and AED records) into your dashboard.

c. Payment information

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Your full card number and card security details are entered directly with Stripe and are never seen, handled or stored by First Aid Check. We receive only confirmation of payment and limited transaction metadata.

d. Technical & usage information

We collect limited, largely anonymous analytics about how the Service is used (for example, which steps of the funnel are reached and which features are used) so we can improve it. We use your browser’s local storage to save your in-progress assessment and session so you can return to it.

2. How we use your information

  • To generate your first aid report, requirements and dashboard;
  • To process your purchase and provide access to the paid Workplace Action Plan;
  • To email you a private link to your report/dashboard, and renewal or expiry reminders you have asked for;
  • To respond to enquiries you send us;
  • To operate, secure, maintain and improve the Service;
  • To meet our legal obligations.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the Service, and only so far as needed:

Hosting / infrastructure providerHosting the website and storing your data

Some of these providers may store or process information on servers located outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected by comparable safeguards. We may also disclose information where required by law.

4. Cookies & local storage

We use essential browser storage to keep your assessment and session working. We do not use advertising cookies. Analytics are kept to what we need to understand and improve the Service.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal, accounting and record-keeping requirements. Paid access is provided for the period stated at purchase. You can ask us to delete your personal information at any time (see section 8), subject to any records we are required to retain.

6. How we protect it

All traffic to and from firstaidcheck.co.nz is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Card data is handled entirely by Stripe. We restrict access to personal information to those who need it to operate the Service. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

7. Children

The Service is intended for businesses and workplaces and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request correction of information that is inaccurate;
  • Request deletion of your personal information, where we are not required to keep it.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond as soon as reasonably practicable. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
